Jolly day!Happy Edgar Allan Poe's Birthday to one and all.

Last year I threatened to turn Poe's delightfully lighthearted, jolly poem "The Bells" into a picturebook, perhaps a merry board book for the very youngest readers, which I felt sure would guarantee sweet and comforting dreams to the littlest of impressionable kiddies. The offers of sacks of gold in advance haven't flowed in, but I did scribble a bit of something for a webcomics contest. And it did win the fabulous prize of having won a prize (15 minutes of pixellated fame). So, since it's Edgar's birthday again and I am compelled by contractual obligations to celebrate it in some way, herewith a repeat comic.

If you've seen it already, please pretend you haven't. There wasn't enough time to transcribe another Poe(m). For next year I'm thinking a "Murders in the Rue Morgue" graphic novel, acted by a cast of cute anthropomorphic kittens, guaranteed to be a comforting bedtime story. I know I always enjoyed falling asleep to Poe's tales of gruesome dismemberment. Which would explain a lot.

The Bells!

:-)

Hm... which Poe(m) should I do next...? I'll have to flip through the Complete Works and find something completely unlikely, with or without the anthropomorphic bunnies.

All for anthropomorphic bunnies

Not The Raven, just because it's been done so often. So many good ones to choose from though.
