ARgh! I can't stand the suspense! Every time a new Lindsey Davis book comes out the first thing I check is the month and year (still 77AD as far as I can remember). Of course poor old Falco's troubles will really start in 81 AD, when Domitian becomes emperor. Hm, maybe this post should have had a spoiler warning...

Love that lattice shadow.

Thank you! I tried to draw it on the physical page with a grey brush pen, but couldn't get it to come out as evenly as doing it completely digitally, so I'm filling the lattice in today on the first row :)

He's really not very bright... It's a small city, and Felix will eventually learn if something happens to his son... Antonius Felix, the guy who is said to have killed single-handedly THREE PRAETORIAN GUARDS, and who is a personal acquaintance of Titus'...

On the other hand I half expect them to get back to the table and find out the boys has disappeared. And so have their purses.

They never really think of these qualifications when seeking out revenge, do they? That was my first thought too, "...are they seriously going to mess with Felix? Seriously?"

Revenge, served reheated

Well, let's see Talicus' perspective... his best buddy--and maybe, who knows, even his fellow freedman, which could be a very close bond--and in any case someone he considers family... brutally tossed off a roof into the bay--who knows how long before he finally washed back up... and the people in charge of peacekeeping say in response to the tossing-off-of-roof, "Thanks for keeping the peace"... and then this little morsel shows up and nobody knows the boy is there, and some days it seems like the fates are telling you, "Look what I wrapped in a bow," and...

Yeah, it's still not a very bright move. Maybe between the two of these guys they have most of a complete brain and a sense of self preservation.

I really do hope the kid is smart enough to run.

::sigh::

Your faces have wonderful lines and details of late. They really look good. The ones that I've been marveling at are they uglier ones. Lovely really.

Kissies.

Thank You :)

Practice makes maybe-not-perfect-but-working-on-it...?

Plus, the faces get more detailed when one of my 005 pens develops the fine drawing line that comes from being really, really low on ink. Just before it gives up the ghost entirely and I have to wear down a new pen. When I am wealthy, I will have interns who do nothing but wear down pens for me.

I need to learn to draw larger. I really, really do :D

Exactly. Anyone can draw pretty faces. It takes talent to make a face -well, ugly, but not monstrous.

(I had a problem with our gaming group's dedicated illuminator, since she couldn't draw one of my RPG characters "ugly enough". The character was supposed to be ordinary-looking, something along Appearance 2, but very lively and charismatic. He always came out as too pretty.)
