Left: Honour; Right: Ambition--bff?You can read this version, or you can wait for version 2, which will be, uhm, different in some way. Like, maybe I'll finish inking it :)

Happy birthday. Now watch your back.

She is the total coolness.

Now if she just remembered to drink that bottle of wine for me...

Why, yes, I was. Remember the person in the scarlet wig, painted silver, dancing in a chainmail bikini on the table in front of the Conan painting? I was on the other side of the room, cornered by high-powered, tipsy editors.

(Shh... don't tell anyone who wasn't there that there weren't really chainmail bikinis and speedos being handed out at the door.

But there were tipsy editors.)

I wasn’t there. I was gonna, but I skipped it to hang with the Scott McCloud dinner posse after his presentation at NYU.

Wow, had I known there would be a McCloud presentation, I might have gone. I am so unhip.

Either one of these sounds much more hip than where I was last night: parent-teacher conferences. And I'd much rather schmooze any day (even with people in a totally different field than my own) than work.

Why doesn't anyone believe me? I don't wanna be Caesar.

Funny how Caesar wannabes just assume everyone else is, too.

(grin)

Wonder if Ambition Boy is beginning to think it wasn't a good idea to waste Honour Boy's "family" at sea -- or maybe it was fortunate. By the gods, this conspiracy and dealing gets complicated.

Go on, admit it--you wannabe Caesar, too.

Speaking of which: The games are here! Caesar IV! Now I just have to get myself to the post office :D

(adds to memory book -- "The one with the revelation about our hero")
Just when I think Felix is getting a clue he goes and does something naive and dangerous. Thrilling but yikes.

How was the party? I might have considered going, but I was too busy wearing my same pajamas since Saturday.

Erk. I wrote a long comment, so of course lj ate it.

Let's see: The food was tacky, but the likker was free; it was so nosiy I couldn't hear most of what anyone was saying; I ran into Martha and other HC people right about when I had had enough of lurking around looking at the children's book illustrations and was ready to flee; I met a couple of other lost-looking people to wander around with; I failed to impress anyone with my lack of sparkliness; and you would have no doubt wowed all those SF people with the power and importance of Children's Books. There were a few YA authors there I had a chance to talk with--Holly Black (who must think I'm a maniac now); Sara Beth Durst (who was incredibly nice and has a book upcoming from Razorbill); a few illustrators I got to talk art with; and... well... a lot of tipsy editors :)

Now, then. Why are you reading lj?? You have a novel to finish, so you can be super famous!
