spqrblues: (funny story)

I've finally made it to my destination, and am squabbling with the scanner to convince it to scan a few comics. But at least there's a reliable internet connection, so things are looking up for future updates.
Turn right here

Yay! Glad to hear you're back in Texas! Don't forget to swing past Nacogdoches when you get a chance. It'll only take you mumblemumble hours out of your way, and we would truly truly love to see you.

Hubby wants to know whether you would prefer Argentinian beef stew (cooked in a pumpkin!) or grilled spanakopita burgers - each with a suitable wine, of course. He's happy you're coming, too.

Ask a simple question, get a treatise

Hi there! Yay!

Thank you so much for the invitation. I'll have to give you a call or an e to work out details :-) Both those meals sound awfully enticing... but I've sworn off eating unknown cows, you see. I don't suppose a spanakopita burger is vegetarian, or that the cows are locally grown? Argh, I'm such a difficult and ungracious guest! If you put a plate of yummy beef stew (cooked in a pumpkin? sounds fabulous, actually) in front of me, I would eat it heartily and happily with many thanks to the chef. I just want to see the chefs, and would do so even if all I get is a half-ration of barley for my lack of manners.

I think I got up too early this morning. My brain is a bit furred over.

And now I ramble off into a treatise on food: I know my cow comments horrify some of my vegetarian friends (and omnivorous ones, too), but meeting and feeding a bunch of cows reaffirmed my comfort with being an apex predator. That, plus my lifelong opinions about food: Unless you're very committed and/or a breatharian, which I understand doesn't work very well unless supplemented with Dunkin' Donuts, you kill something to eat—it's a copout to say plants don't matter just because their lives are so different than ours. Up with Plants! No Plant Testing! Vegetable Rights and Peace!

I think I need a little nap.

(scratching head) The spanokopita burgers are made with ground chicken, but we've already bought it so I can't introduce you.

We can look for a cool vegetarian recipe - no problem!

p.s. Can I get an ETA? I need to make sure someone's home when you get here so we don't strand you in the driveway...

I am perfectly happy to eat a chicken I don't know personally. In fact, I will eat anything you put in front of me, or take you out to dinner at your fave-est place.

I sill e-mail or phone you. I had a long late night tonight (capped off by several hours NOT convincing the scanner to scan) to find out what your schedule is like, so I can plan around whatever is most convenient for you!

There's a building down on the beach--I don't think it's being used for anything now. And every time I see it, I wish I had a camera.

It has one sign on it that says, "Y?"

And another just below that says, "Answers coming soon."

Oh, definitely get a photo before someone comes along and tears the building down or takes away the signs. I love that sort of spontaneous art /poetry/what-you-will :-)
