I did manage to get a couple of copies of daltonsharp's Love is Lava minicomic for gift-giving from the elusive Canadian table, but I think I came across as a wild-eyed crazy lady. . . .
I'm such a complete introvert, I only managed to step up and say hello to a few people. Next time maybe I'll remember to put my name on my nametag and see if anyone steps up to me :-)
I find it incredibly awkward myself to go up and talk to people whose stuff I like. Even when I've talked to them before!
I was very impressed that you bought two copies of Love is Lava. There was the impression that you would have bought even more if they were available! Go Dalton!
A lot of my friends are getting comics for holiday and birthday occasions this year. It's more fun than just pointing them to the URL first, to give a little box of minicomics tied up with a bow (or slung at them in a bag along with a bottle of Japanese plum wine, as the case and occasion may be).
I am so easily intimidated by artists and writers whose work I like. I either am tongue-tied into silence or turn into a high-pitched maniac. I was so flustered at SPX I didn't even check out the rest of the Crown Commission table to see what else was there, so I'm sure I missed some other good comics.
And I'm still waiting to see that big chunky Love is Lava omnibus someday when the saga is complete.
no angst! okay, some, since angst is good for comics.
when you e me, let me know if the trip to Austin is still on. I'm going to wfc and the person buying me the ticket needs to know if i'll be in ohio, nyc, or austin then :) silly details.
9 out of 9 Crown Commissionaires agree that we are drop dead sexy.
Also, were those Dean's cards that you thought were great, but did not take? I vaguely remember something like that going down, but most post-con sickness may have me confused.
Also: Love is Lava=best bang for your buck at SPX (next to YAND, of course).
This is just awesome - I love the whole collagey thing and the way the background images have something to do with the new drawn stuff.
If I didn't have a wretched cold I would say something intelligent about intertextuality or something, but at the moment the best I can come with is "way cool."
I hope you get some decent rest over the weekend and shake the cold off. Now that your power is back, you can curl up with some nice warm television....

Because this one features M & A, two of my favorite people, it is my favorite.
