spqrblues: (SPQR Blues 4 Domitian)

Meanwhile, over there.

This marriage may be on shakier ground than the city.

Domitian's astrological chart indicated that he would die in the noon hour, and probably at a particular noon. Knowing that all he had to do was stay protected by trusted guards for an hour each day made him fearless...until that particular noon seemed to be coming close. He began to test ways of defying fate—by trying to change other people's predicted causes of death by killing them himself.

But that's a story for a later time. Right now, he's pretty proud of himself.

There's no evidence that he and his family were within view of Vesuvius when it erupted, but there are indications they visited Herculaneum, and there were plenty of other luminaries in the area at the time. Anyway, our Domitian has a habit of appearing places where everyone says he is not.

Next week's plan: new comics Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The guy doesn't look to thrilled. I guess he wa hoping she'd say "and if he won't go - leave him here to die"

A centimeter of panel space wasn't quite enough room for me to express the dual sentiments of "I hate my boss" and "I'm not taking orders from a woman, even you."

This guy's permanent facial expression has been "I am so disgusted with all of you."

As is right and proper. Something about his chiseled cheeks reminds me of Stonn in "Amok Time."

Mrs. Domitian seems like a pretty nice sort, except for the part where she's trying to keep Domitian alive.

The lady's patience can only stretch so far...

You know, I think I WAS channelling Stonn for that face. I always remember that classic lyrically romantic line, "I wanted Stonn, Stonn wanted me." (Or words to that effect :D)

Flawlessly logical.

What could be more romantic than than a logical deconstruction of molten Vulcan lust? :D
