There's the thing... I think my mind is atrophying. Fer 'xample, every time I mention ancient Rome, eyes glaze over and fall right out of people's heads, so I'm no longer quite sure my mind is working properly, or that there's anything coherent on it.
I wish I'd checked back in earlier this afternoon instead of staring at the ceiling then getting pressed into chauffeur duty. We coulda tossed a ball around :-)
Eyes glaze over?? Why? I loved your post comparing Kerry and Bush to Antony and Octavian, by the way. :D It was a brilliant, well-thought-out analogy.
Your mind's working fine, amica. It's other people's brains that are atrophied, fed a steady diet of TV slop and other false mental calories.
::sigh:: I'm still researching the Roman navy during the Punic Wars, and while I've got a better idea of how it worked than I did, I still do not know how naval camps were constructed. I also have no knowledge of Fabius Maximus Cunctator's early military career. This isn't bad--it allows me to make things up out of whole cloth--but I used to have a bit on when he became paterfamilias on the death of his grandfather, and I've lost it. :(
Someday we're going to have to have a mutual hatefest for Ross Leckie. Just thought I'd warn you.

::taps head:: Is this thing on?
