I love waking up to comics in the morning. Isn't Menander going with them?
Panel two is very clean and I like the layout. Felix needs a shave. There's a LOT going on in Panel three, which isn't bad; I'm always in awe how much detail you can cram into a small space.
Menander is taking the girls to the shrine at the shore. Felix is taking a lamp, a torch, and a pair of shoes to Mus & Iusta's house, then is supposed to go spread the evacuation order around town and herd citizens. Maybe he can corner a barber along the way. He generally needs a shave about three seconds after getting one.
The comic has unfortunately conditioned me to draw as much as possible in limited space rather than sprawling across a full page. But I always had that tendency. I draw like I write like I keep my living space...way too much stuff crammed into a small space.
It's the classic love story. Boy babysits girl, boy goes to war for ten years, boy gets propositioned by girl's brother, boy gets propositioned by girl, boy gets drafted into marriage by girl's grandfather. It doesn't get more romantic than that ;)
You know, if someone made sure I got that pair of Louboutins I absolutely need (needed strictly for purposes of fleeing from a volcano...in style), I would definitely take that as a sign of devotion.
