Elisa is new to how this whole flirting thing works. No doubt she's being literal about the lamp; it is getting dark out there. Felix can't be held responsible for any misinterpretations springing into his own mind, but I'm sure he'll just grab his lamp and go. I was going to suggest that Menander ought to bring him a torch instead, but now it's all starting to sound like euphemisms....
Spendi has always known that the probability of Felix marrying her were so low to be almost zero. She's a slave after all and there are better prospects for a roman citizen out there.
Now, the interesting part will be what Elisa will say when she finds out about Spendusa and Felix's daughter. Will she ask/order him to sell her?
True, there was never any chance Felix would marry her. But he was thrilled by the baby - that had to make Spendi hopeful for herself and her daughter. Now, as you point out, they're likely to be disposable again.
If Elisa makes such a demand, I highly doubt Felix will listen to her. Felix is very fond of Spendusa, very attached to his daughter (http://spqrblues.com/IV/?p=76), and Elisa is just barely old enough to be married.
They cheated a little on when and how she was freed (here (http://spqrblues.com/IV/?p=173) and here (http://spqrblues.com/IV/?p=170)), but now she's a freedwoman. Which makes her and Felix inextricably tied by social convention and obligations no matter what.
Of course Felix feels the obligations. He accepted his daughter without reservations.
On the same matter, liking Spendi has nothing to do with his marriage to Elisa. Elisa could ask Felix to send her away to Alexandria or conversely, they could move to Alexandria leaving Spendi and her daughter in Italy (although not in Pompeii or Herculaneum).

Don't worry, I do it to Mus all the time"
Yup, that would sound a little too much like a bawdy 70's movie.
On the other side, these are the 70's. Not the 1970's, but the actual, the original seventies!
