It's funny how everybody commented on the dog ! It was also the first thing that came to my mind. Maybe you should make him the main character instead of all those boring humans...

I wonder if there are any traces of the names of roman dogs?

I think the oldest pet names we know are early Egyptian inscriptions, but I'm 100% sure I've seen mentions of Roman dogs by name. 99-44/100% sure. I got very little sleep last night. My eyes keep trying to close and my brain is stuttering.

Now I have find the references. I feel like it was a mention two cats and a dog in the Egyptian inscription, and some dogs in Latin poetry and graffiti. It's on the tip of my tongue...

Thanks. I forgot to ink the beardy bit so I went back in and overlaid the scan of the pencil version :P But I think it works in an interesting way....
