I haven't drawn this (or much of anything) in a long time, so I haven't quite gotten back into the swing of drawing everyone's faces. Or writing letters.

Clearly the solution is to get more pens.

It seemed appropriate to start with feet. I might be wobbly on drawing faces, but I've been drawing Roman feet for months :D

Yay ! Welcome back !

And more pens, yes obviously. Is there a problem that can't be solved by buying mor pens ?

Some problems might be eased by buying drawing paper, and once I experimented with buying a dozen pencils, but nothing has the same problem-solving abilities as a bag of brand-new brush pens :D

Pens and Romans!

Yes-yes, you need more pens. It works like that in my woodshop... I need more chisels!

Oh, yes, one always needs more chisels!

I wonder if I could chisel a comic...

I blame the scaffolding. I have been trying to draw a street scene with scaffolding for...uhm, a while now. Clearly the solution was: cover it with word balloons and an inset panel. Solves everything!

Artist's anxiety! I can't help myself! :D

The next one is about halfway drawn. I'm starting to feel a little more comfortable with the whole "art" thing again :)

Fancy. With pearls, I tell you. Or possibly combat boots, with pearls. I'm not sure which yet.

Sweet baby Zeus kittens, there's an update! Sweet!
(Which is odd, because today in my NaNoWriMo writing, my ancient Roman vampires are getting ready to go back and visit the ruins of Pompeii.)

Oh boy oh boy--will there be Roman vampires trapped IN the ruins?? Oh, wait, no spoilers! :D

Good luck with your NaNoWriMo word count!

Crap spoilers. *hands over mouth* My bad. XD

(In my version of things, the vampires had some fore-warning and managed to leave the area before it all went boom. And thank you! I'm actually over 100k now, but still not done with this year's part of the story. Gah. Blasted vampires are all "No, we're going to muse about how the coastline has changed and wonder where exactly their old house used to be, kthanks.")

I am VERY thankful for this comic!

Also, why do I suspect that Mus would have said exactly the same thing as this kid when he *was* a kid? Don't start yelling at them to get off your lawn, Mus!

Happy Thanksgiving - I hope you have a wonderful one!

He's all adult now, with a house and a wife and a share in the family business and a mistress on the side and all the other things a grown-up Roman man needs. Well, except for a good pair of walking shoes.

So are they Vitalis' shoes or Calatoria's shoes?

Because inquiring minds want to know! :)

Whoa, I've been in Harry Potter fandom too long; I at first spelled 'inquiring' with an 'e!'

I was going to say Vitalis's, because Calatoria's might have cooties. But I wouldn't put it past Spendusa to have accidentally (ahem) packed one of Calatoria's nicer pairs of shoes in Iusta's luggage. Nah, I think they belonged to Vitalis. I'm sure she had better taste in footwear :)

ImageVitalis must have had a more interesting past than we know.

I felt like drawing something more elaborate than closed-in shoes. I'm sure these are made of soft fabric with pretty embroidery and a few pearls sewn on, for special party occasions.

Sometimes you just have to jump into things feet first and put your best foot forward so you can start off on the right foot and...I have more, but I'll stop myself now :D

HOORAY!!!!! It's so good to see Mus back, even if he is wearing Calatoria's shoes.

I like the baskets in the last panel. The scaffolding pole almost looks like it's dividing the panel into two so that the upright basket and the fallen-over basket might be the same basket falling-down-going-boom, which might be sneaky foreshadowing.
