It's sad to be inking earthquakes when a real earthquake has shaken NZ.

The first time I drew the volcano acting up, a volcano erupted.

Sketch of the day is more rough pencils from Big Doomed Project, below the cut, since they were already scanned and available!

Yeah, it didn't work out, but stuff like that I try and tuck under "Learning Experience" as soon as I can.

*hugs*

I was going to go with "Painful, Humiliating Learning Experience" :P But I'll try to keep it to "Learning Experience."

"The first time I drew the volcano acting up, a volcano erupted."

Well, if you make sure no-one important dies, maybe the real one will leave everyone all right? /bad joke

Good to see you're back and drawing again! The pencils look absolutely lovely, as always. No pushing, but I'm waiting for the inks so we can see what's really happening!

Sometimes there's no other choice but to give in to volcano humour. It's like gallows humour, only hotter.

Sympathetic-magic via comic strip? I might just give it a try.

Argh, not knowing the story of the other project is so tantalizing! I can certainly understand why you want to find a way to reuse your beautiful material. I can see so much of the character dynamics and emotions in the artwork, and that's what makes it so intriguing/frustrating to not quite know what's going on...

:) Maybe some day I'll actually carry out the idea of concocting a story around some of the pages, or maybe I'll just let them stay mysterious.

I was going to say that I thought those horses looked really tall for Roman times (or any time predating the medieval revolution in horse husbandry) but you've never told us what period that big project was.

I was hoping no one would notice that the horses in the SPQR Blue pencils are a tad tall too.

But the ones in the other pencils are 19th-century horses. Clearly all on steroids :)

I think that if you had put Roman-era sized horses there would have been the risk that a lot of people would have yelled "pony" and laughed.

Yeah, people can be so cruel.

Sympathetic magic (draw a volcano, a real volcano erupts somewhere) discussion makes me wonder why more artists don't draw drunken sex parties w/free money falling out of the sky. I'm just saying.
