If it wasn't Zahi Hawass touting it for the past year, I'd be a lot more excited about the news now flooding the airwaves about the possibility archaeologists have found Antonius & Cleopatra's tomb. We'll see. I'm nervous about Hawass getting his hands on the real site. I suppose we'll be seeing a crazy documentary with Hawass manhandling mummies soon, and an exhibition with a high admission price. Well, whatever it takes to keep the museums running.

Wish #1: That I could make that documentary. Hey, it'd still be an amazingly cool project.

Wish #2: That the news outlets would stop arguing about whether Cleopatra was pretty or not. Of course, that's the only measure of a woman's worth and the only reason why two of the most powerful men in the world of her day found her a worthy partner. Hawass, stop talking about the size of her nose.

Wish #3: I wish I'd become an archaeologist. I squandered my chances, so too late for me now. I'll waddle off to my day job, scribble some webcomics, and whine annoyingly about it.

I never thought I would find other people who disliked that Hawass as much as I do. I love you guys :D

Once at a museum exhibit, there was a life-size poster of Hawass in the gift shop. I managed to refrain from asking whether it came with darts, because that would totally have been in bad taste, but at the time I was thinking it would have made a pretty darned funny gift for [livejournal.com profile] xanath. And, it turns out, for other discriminating persons.

I bought some mummy magnets instead. Also nice.

My god, what a dipshit. Also who the hell would buy that is their target buyer? I would rather make one, so he doesn't see a cent. :D

Mummy magnets are hells better. I would give the Luxor Casino thousands of dollars before I would give that ass a dime. At least Luxor makes things pretty and doesn't treat you like a moron?

Well, it was a big dramatic image of him standing at the maw of an excavated tomb. I'll be gracious and say that maybe it was only on display as decoration next to the real posters. But I do remember believing it was on offer. Or maybe they were trying to get it out of there :D

I'm going to believe they wanted to be rid of them :D

I'm rather surprised they weren't signed or some crap hahahaha

Aww! No Hawass dartboard?! . . . that's okay. :D I'll just wait till he gets his picture on the news sites again, which shouldn't be long (maybe in the next 30 minutes), and paste it to my bedroom wall.

Seriously, I hear you about archaeology. I always thought it would have been neat. Unfortunately, I'm a severe wuss when it comes to snakes and spiders, and I hear there's plenty of both on lots of digs. Bleah!

(Final note: I think I really hate Colleen McCullough. I found out she ended her Masters of Rome series with a novel about Antony and Cleopatra titled, what else? So I got it from the library. I wanted to set it on fire, a reaction I didn't even have for the Leckie atrocities. Gaaaaaaaahhhhh!)
