"There was a young bride from Pompeii"...

reminds me that I meant to ask : what is it that they say about Pompeiian girls ?

And Re: mysterious rider : my bet is on Domitian

I know, right? Just try scrubbing that out of the marble! On my knees all day, chisel chisel, work work, Jupiter what a life... :)

(and sorry, I was really uncertain if I'd calculated wrong)

A gajillion years ago, I did a little studying on what lengths stone masons went to when they made a mistake in chiselling inscriptions. I've never had the self confidence to work with stone in any regard :D

You should get yourself one of these Antikythera automatons (http://www.spqrblues.com/images/comixtalk_klio.png) like in my icon. Much easier on the knees.

I hate typos. I really, really hate typos.

I am sure the historical record will tell us that Domitian was nowhere near Pompeii in the late summer or early autumn of that year. Of course, SPQR Blues tells us that Domitian is never where he is supposed to be ;)

I will try to have that last panel or so inked before you reach it in the translated version XD

Happy MMIX... or, still MMDCCLXI AUC (until the Roman new year starts).

What a great last panel. Nothing but churning the story, even during the delight of a wedding. Boom, indeed.

If the wedding were perfect, the gods would get jealous, and we can't have that... :)

What's the worst that can happen?

Hahahahahaha...

You're asking ME what's the worst that could happen?

I've got a running list going and it'll be fun to see if I'm right or not. Heh.

You should post your list on the speculation thread (http://forums.comicgenesis.com/viewtopic.php?t=82718) (if you haven't already :) ). I'm looking forward to reading that thread soon. I mean, "sooner or later."

Yes, yes, place your bets in public. There's no fun in saying "But really, I figured it out months ago, don't you believe me?"

Or, the public humiliation could be fun too.

Mus looks so young here!

Your crowd scenes are fantastic.

I try to be consistent in how he looks and in what ways he's starting to look more grown-uppy. It's probably just the bewilderment of the moment. Or, I could blame it on the lighting....

He doesn't look childish just, yeah, bewildered and a little naive.

Yes, that's it, yes, exactly XD

Menander did his best to cure the naiveté, but there are some things he just couldn't teach him about....

p.s. - I'm starting to like drawing crowd scenes. I used to dread them :)

I love how you coloured the flammeum. And the last panel... I thought there was enough booooom coming on? =(

Boom tomorrow

I mean, just a little boom. Not the big boom.

I always thought, if I'd ever gotten married, I'd have worn a Roman-style veil. And the matching socks. Because the socks definitely make the outfit :D

Always a boom tomorrow...

Absolutely. Roman-style almost anything is lovely. I have a friend who dreams of moving into Italy and building himself a Roman-style villa. I promised him I'd be spending every winter there. Hasn't happened yet. :(

Boom whatever, I hope poor Iusta makes it 'till the night as a married woman and not a widow...

He finally made a man out of that mouse! His work here is done.

Well, there might still be some requests for married-guy advice. Very likely, in fact.

hehehe

makes me think of that line from "Men in Tights"

"You must go thwoo it before you can doo it, or else I bwoo it"

I'm pretty sure I saw that movie, but I don't remember that line. It sounds a little dirty </shock!>

Good thing there's an intarweb on which one can look up all pop-culture references :)
