BD up for grabs

I'm home under the weather today (what a surprise after this weekend :) ), but that means I was here for the delivery of a stack of graphic novels from France. I accidentally received two of the same book. It's number 5 in a series, but since it isn't cost effective to return it to the store, does anyone (in the US or Canada) want it?
I am lousy at mailing things, as we all know, but if I bring it with me to work, I can probably manage it....

Date: 2008-10-20 09:51 pm (UTC)I have a few requests on the way for books that might be possibilities for publishing in English (this series is too grown-up for us, I believe, and also physically too large in height and width). Do you have any recommendations for teenage readers and younger? Especially younger (ages 8 to 14, or even younger).

Date: 2008-10-20 11:12 pm (UTC)There are, of course, the comics I was reading as a kid : Spirou & Fantasio, Gaston, Valérian, Philémon... They're not very new, though. Spirou has been going on with different authors, but I don't really like what they do nowadays. They also have Le Petit Spirou, which isn't too bad...
Titeuf is a big success among kids around here. Can't say I'm a big fan... You should also look at the other comics published by the magazine Tcho ! (My favorites : Lou, Raghnarok, La rubrique scientifique, Nini Patalo...)
Also : Petit Vampire, Jacques le petit Lézard Géant, Les trois chemins, Garulfo
These ones look nice, but I haven't read them : Eddy Milveux, Allez raconte...
These are the one I can think of right now, and who I believe aren't published in english yet

Date: 2008-10-21 10:06 am (UTC)Since we're plugging our favourite BD shops, here are mine, when I go to Montreal:
http://www.lesitebd.com/h/lancer.asp
Note that at the bottom of the page they have links to a special section of BDs for the young (JEUNESSE) and a different one for teenagers (ADO)
And here's the place where I love to browse, physically:
http://www.marchedulivre.qc.ca/
Le Marché du Livre will take orders from the U.S. (I have a friend who lives in Arizona who's bought from them) but their Web site is a bit quirky.
I sincerely hope that in order to finance this you'll be able to find the time to dig up a few places in Maine and find a treasure trove of Phenician coins, buried by the lost fleet of Carthage when they were swept across by an Atlantic storm, as they fled from the Roman Navy.
