spqrblues: (Blues 4 Felix)

a man of oenophilic interestsI might stick with a three-day-a-week plan from here on, with the occasional extra. This current week, I have a big medical procedure (anaesthesia and all), so I'll make sure there are at least three insallments, starting with this one. (The big medical thing is nothing too worrisome, except for the GINORMOUS BILL. ahem pardon me mumble mutter.) But enough of that. What's up on Main Street, Herculaneum, Rome?

Oh no, medical thing! Good luck and good health. I hope you find a bag full of money to help pay off the stupid bill.

Thanks. I've combobulated just about enough in savings, loans, and postponing the other bills. (I owe about everyone in the world at this point—and most of them won't take payment in being included as "Vesuvian victim #3, on the left" in the comic, especially not the IRS.) Next up after this is dental surgery, which I have been putting off way too long. I hate dental surgery, so it's not like I mind putting it off for months. In fact, maybe this is all actually an elaborate excuse not to have to go back to the dentist ever again....

I have a couple of freelance projects that got sidetracked during the last, bad month, but hopefully I can finish those up and the clients will still want to pay me :)

I think I should try drawing while recovering from the influence of anaesthesia and see what I come up with XD

He's going to brag about having arrested Damon, isn't he ? Then he's going to need some dental surgery or whatever the romans had instead of dental surgery...

Sorry to hear about the big medical thing... Hope everything gets well ! I'll pray to Esculape on your behalf.

Also, did you get my mail ? It was about pickling...

Yum, pickling. I'll check the mail. I've been cleaning out spam and rescuing real mail from the junk-mail folder all week, so I hope I didn't accidentally discard it. I will create a filter specifically to rescue your letters!

I don't think the Blues have a dental insurance plan.

Was he going to say "I need a haircut"? Please, please don't let him get one just yet! We have barely seen his lovely locks again! 0.0 Besides it just wouldn't do to let him run around when the mountain goes [boom] without some heroic curls swinging, would it?

Oh, and I do hope your operation goes well, and your budget can take it! Once again I give sincere thanks to our health care system, which takes up an indecent sum of tax money but pays itself back whenever you really need it...

On top of the bad US health care system, my company has insurance that is beyond lousy and keeps getting rearranged to be worse. Apparently in NZ--which I once talked myself out of moving to--this procedure would be entirely covered, instead of... not covered at all. I would be glad to have my taxes go to health care for everyone else, and health care for me when I have a sudden need.

Not even my car cost this much :P It will be a while to get my head back above the waves, but in the end it will hopefully be worth it. Fingers crossed!

And you're right! Felix needs his heroic curls!! I'll see if I can keep him away from the barber, but he's so stubborn XD

Urgh. One more reason not to move over there - though I'd like to visit. I'm sending good vibes for quick recovery, hope they'll find their appropriate target. ~~~~~~~~~~

I can hold him, too, if you need help! =P

See, it's the trollop's job to keep him away from the barber...

Oops, I just realized that should have been trollops', as in, the girls who the coworker wants to go visit...

Because it takes multiple trollops to handle Felix, of course.

I'm pregnant and a basic, standard, everyone-gets-it test in early pregnancy is for Chlamydia. Which is apparently not covered by my insurance, and which I have to pay $260 out of pocket for. For a test. A urine test. Oh, USA. Why your health care system gotta suck so bad? I cry.

I cry alongside you. I have the next four hours to figure out how to get my moolah into the doctor's hands in an acceptable form. So much easier if it could have gone through health insurance, then they bill me for whichever sundry parts of the procedure they didn't deem necessary (as opposed to having to handle the entire thing myself). Yup, I would gladly, gladly pay taxes to cover a proper health care system (that'd pay for your darned basic standard test) if I knew that, when I occasionally needed the health care myself, it would be there.

Yes, both of them. ;) Made by a friend who has since lost the font used in them, so I can't get more of the same series. :(

Surgery! My coworkers were just talking a couple of weeks ago about how much fun anaesthesia is. (Yes, I have a strange office.)

In any case, I'm crossing my fingers for a speedy recovery and a windfall that will let you pay for it.

Hmm. I found anaesthesia about as much fun as... falling asleep. Whee?

The last time I had anaesthesia (for dental surgery), as I was waking up I was under the delusion that, since I couldn't speak, I knew sign language. I (thought I) was having quite a long and intellectual discourse, while the person who was driving me home just watched and shook her head. I am positive I'm going to say something embarrassing this time—because I've already thought of a long list of things I might blurt out, and I bet one bubbles up at an inopportune time. Maybe if I focus on Rome as I go under, I'll say all my embarrassing things in Latin when I come up :)

I used to know how to say, "I have a catapult. Give me all your money or I will fling an enormous rock at your head." Maybe you could get your surgery for free! :)

I had surgery right after reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and I figured I'd have giant snake nightmares, but apparently all I did when I woke up was told them I was cold so they would give me one of those preheated blankets.

Sure!

1. A personal masseur, someone decorative who can hang around prettily in the corner of the room when not in use.
2. One million dollars euros.
3. Villa in Tuscany.
4. About 36 extra hours in the week for assorted catching-up and sleeping.
5. A 50% raise.
6. Just general moral support :)

Looks like you've read Under the Tuscan Sun: At Home in Italy by Frances Mayes. I guessed it by the number of euros you know you'll need to renovate the place.

Yes! I loved that book. I just know that, somewhere, a villa is waiting for me to renovate it and fresco all its walls :)

Whatever's the medical matter, please take our best wishes to heart and recover quickly, both physically and financially.

Otherwise we're stranded here on the wrong side of the volcano. (grin)

Oh, no matter what, I promise not to keep you waiting too long before things go boom.

I've had a few timeline issues along the way, but they're all about to straighten themselves out, in time for cataclysm.

I always like to leave folks with comforting thoughts.
