elisaFor those of you interested in the technical side, I'm trying a new pen today, the 01 Letraset fineliner. It's supposed to be half the line width of the 005 Pigma Micron, but really isn't. It's a rich black line, but it doesn't take very well to the paper I'm using, and takes a long time to dry.

Where, oh where is the ultimate fine line pen? I have itty bitty drawings to do!

What would Princess Leia do?

Both of those are disposables, aren't they? Have your checked out reservoir pens?
The itttiest-bittiest pen I've ever found is the 6x0 rapidograph from Koh-i-noor (0.13 mm); problem is, you have to provide your own ink, and various brands make a huge difference.Plus, once you've figured out all that, there's the question of paper ('Cause, you y'know, every little thing changes the outcome).
I've settled on a mix of rapidograph pens, speedball superblack ink, and strathmore smooth bristol, for what that's worth.

Hi -

I used to use rapidographs all the time, got out of the habit of using them, discovered my set had gotten hopelessly clogged and bits misplaced, then decided that the disposables would save the world! But, aside from the fact disposables are kind of wasteful, being disposable, the smallest tip really only becomes exactly what I need about two pages before it dries up beyond usefulness :)

I've been pretty happy with the Strathnore sooth bristol paper I've been using. And, what the hey--since I can't sem to make myself draw at a larger scale, I'll go look at some rapidographs, and try Speedball superblack ink. Thanks for the suggestions :)

I'm not entirely sure, but I think Radiograph pens go thinner than microns? The downside is, they are kind of expensive, and the metal tip is very much prone to bending, which will render your pen mostly useless. But I suppose if you're more careful with your art supplies than a messy, spill-prone art student like me, it might work out. They're refillable, anyway, so the price might not be bad over time.

And then, there's always the dip pen.

Er... right... careful... yes, I am very careful with my art supplies... when I remember where I put them....

I'm going to try mechanical pens again. I also have a brand new crow quill pen I was going to play with, but haven't gotten around to it. I used to loooove crow quills when I was in grade school. Except for all those times I tipped the ink bottle over ::shudder:: I'll be more careful this time around :)

I wasn't going to admit this, but I modelled one of them after a creepy, cheating boyfriend of a friend of mine junior high. But that's just between you and me and the couch.

Probably making sure all the nearby wine-and-sausage-roll vendors are safe. Very, very important, that.

Uh-oh!

I don't think it's a good idea to harass a woman in front of the altar of Venus. It might anger the goddess. I'm just sayin' . . . .

If the gal is willing, well, obviously it's a gift from the goddess, and how can you know if the gal is willing unless you give her a grab... yeah, right >:/

Oh, dear, I hope she brought Menander's fatal kitchen fork with her when she snuck out. And I hope Venus sends Felix along soon!

Yeah... those two are going to be really hurting by the end of the next set of panels!

(And she'll be even more hopelessly smitten with Felix!

ut-oh...Not a good situation.

she should grab that vase on the table and clobber them and *run*

I'm sure Venus won't mind her using the votive to save her life...Seeing as the Gods get offerings on a frequent and regular basis :D

As for the pen situation, I too would suggest you explore Rapidographs; they have ones now with cartridges that you can refil and just pop into the pen, as opposed to the 'old skool' version of having to dissasemble the entire pen.

As much as I do love the 'disposable' microns, the smallest tip does indeed seem inadequate at times, and surely feels wasteful when they dry up.

and have fun with the crowquill! yay!
