I am pleased to see Iusta showing some good business sense. Perhaps there's hope for her after all. She's a clever girl, going for a solid alliance that will give her as much freedom as she can get in her society. I wonder, does she have any inkling about Mus's sexual... variation? I would rather think not, but you never know... good servants tell their mistresses a lot, they say. DRW.

I have to say, Iusta would have been a joy to many Roman men. She's pretty, intelligent, practical, has excellent business sense, and a charming disposition. It's just that . . . well, Mus isn't like most Roman men. He's got a quirky sense of humor, an endearing loyalty and charm, cleverness and sweetness. And it's clear he'd rather not have a wife at all.

I love these two dearly, so I have a feeling I'm going to be on a roller-coaster of emotional highs and lows for a while.

Having a really bad day today (which kinda rots, because I have some big work deadlines), but I'm going to rest up, see the dentist, scribble a little art, and try not to waste the entire day--BECAUSE TODAY IS TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY (http://www.talklikeapirate.com)! I wish I could explain it. Clearly it be having something to do with Talk Like A Pirate Day, which day it be today, arrr, matey, holystone the poop deck, avast, ye swabs.

I do love RLS. There's one of his short, lesser-known books I'd love to turn into a graphic novel. I doubt I'll ever convince my company to take on the project, so I'll just have to do it myself in all my spare time :)

There's a "Master of Ballantrae" comic adaptation here in France, and I've read several "Treasure Island" and "Dr Jekyll and Mister Hyde" adaptations, but most of them are totally uninteresting because they don't add anything to the story and instead they are leaving things out... Stevenson isn't actually very easy to adapt.

It's a nonfiction account of part of his own life after leaving home as a young man. I think it'd be a great thing to adapt--it has adventure, a little romance, history, interesting scenery, a variety of peculiar characters, and some beautifully poetic descriptions that could be included as-is. At first balked at doing it myself because of the amount of visual research I'd have to do, but now... I really do think I'll make it a personal project, once I'm feeling perkier. I want to be the first person to get at it (that I know of!).

I recently found out RLS liked to doodle, himself :)
