Here's another BOLDFACE comic for the Children's Book Council newsletter, written by the Fluff in Brooklyn creator and podcast hostess and drawn by yours truly. There's also an SPQR Blues posted today, in case you missed it.
The rats are so cute! Now I know I'll be spending the weekend posing my five rats with a copy of "Read Me and Show Me To Your parents". I'm thinking of putting some body parts books in the background since I don't have garbage cans or any of Blume's books.
See, this is what Men in Black and the Agents in The Matrix needed: fedoras. Everyone looks better in a really good hat. Oh they're busy doing their dirty deeds in that last panel... and leaking into the previous one. Once again Klio does a superb job of breaking the frame boundaries.
I love hats. You don't want to know how many hats I own.
Thank you for the complimentarious comments :)
The BOLDFACE e-mail newsletter looks very pretty in its new incarnation, but unfortunately they shrank down the image (http://10kd.outsidefood.com/images/boldface0707_emailver.gif) (I didn't even think to ask if the format and width had changed, but I should have doublechecked before assuming) and forgot to include an author/artist credit! THIS IS CLEARLY CENSORSHIP!!! No, not really :P
I was just sure you'd reply with your fancy hat icon. (grin) I have about a dozen really good hats, and no doubt I have a hundred caps. The latest? A black hat with the green Wicked logo on it and the catchphrase "Defy Gravity" on the back from the musical. Even though you can't defy gravity in real life. That Physics stuff, you know.
Oh, I dunno about that--I just saw an episode of Mythbusters this week that was all about defying gravity.
Come to think of it, though, their anti-gravity machines didn't work as desired. Ah well. I just want a personal jet pack for now, the hovercar and individual apparatus-free levitation can come later.
Um, did you intend the cute look around the corner and come-hither-finger as a male audience member hook, or am I just being absurdly male? Either way...nice! :)
I am fully prepared to exploit Y chromosomes in order to get people to read my comix! Well, actually, no, not fully prepared, or I'd have put her in one of those spandex superheroine brassiere-thong dealies. Maybe next time. I'll ask my collaborator how she feels about spandex :)
I bet you couldn't actually write "spandex superheroine brassiere-thong dealie" on a spandex superheroine brassiere-thong dealie. The tag would be bigger than the garment. And where would you buy it...Victoria's Super Secret?
If my hand weren't a little hurty right now, I'd be drawing someone trying on a superheroine thong-o-rama uniform with a really long tag at the Victoria's Super Secret store...
Bet you just saw "Ratatouille"
