My money's on Curlin. Except I have no money. Maybe Any Given Saturday. Liquidity moved nicely, and Cowtown Cat is just pretty, and I think there was one called Sam with pretty legs. Nobizlikeshowbiz sems to have a big powerful rear end, plus a big funny name. Since I have no money, can I pretend to bet on all of them? Here it is in inks. Mostly in inks. I've run out of steam.

Now I have to get back to working and waiting for the horsies to run.

You know, I never wanted a pony when I was a little girl. But I'd love to have a horse now. To ride while dressed in full Roman cavalry uniform, of course.

"ride while dressed in full Roman cavalry uniform"

I greatly encourage this goal...We could use a good Cavalry impression in the group! There are virtually no Cav reenactors in the US that I am aware of, there is growing interest, which is terrific of course, but I haven't "seen" any yet.

Wow, I like the way you deliberately left the trunk and lamp in panel two uninked. Clearly the purpose was to overlay a ghostly premonition of disasters to come... reminding us of the fleeting impermanence of the mundane and the very light that gives us sight. I could never have thought of anything half so clever. Verily dear Klio, you are wiser than I. DRW.

Saying this sort of thing is lacking here in the US of A just wedges a big ol' challenge in my mind to try to find a way to do it! There are stables within walking distance... hmmm....

A few years ago, when I was living nearer to friends who have horses, I toyed with the idea of learning to construct a Roman saddle and other accoutrements. On a horse, maybe I wouldn't look quite so silly in uniform than I would if trying to stand in the middle of a legion of burly manly men reenactors. ::pauses to fan self at the thought of an entire legion of burly manly men reenactors::

A roman saddle? Wasn't it a saddle without stirrups? Isn't there some kind of danger that you could fall and be rescued by an entire legion of burly manly men reenactors?

I do believe falling off and being rescued would be absolutely required. The second phase is impressing everyone with my equestrian prowess, but the first phase is finding a burly manly man reenactor fast enough to catch someone falling out of her saddle before one dainty army-booted foot touches the ground. It's all part of an ancient ritual, you see. You just have to be sure not to do it anywhere the barbarians can see you. They tend to laugh at Romans who fall out of their saddles.

Panel four is astounding. I love the way Mus is gripping Felix's tunic. Felix unshaven is pretty good too.

PS. I was in Louisville for the Derby last year so I totally got the reference. Heh.
