Wait a minute. :blink blink:

Was the teaser panel in color when you first posted it? (wondering if I'm just going insane)

I always picture the characters wearing white - bad habit from too many statues withe paint worn off - so I love having colors to imagine.

Anyway, fabulous installment. Poor Menander! I'm torn between making myself a "Natural Redhead" icon or a "Boywhores! Isn't that thoughtful!" icon with his picture.

I really like the way Vitalis reaches back into the previous panel. She is a woman who is unconstrained by convention!

I'm trying to make out the words above "VITALIS" on the wall. I'm fascinated with Roman commercial inscriptions.

I think it says "Bar & Grill"

That was me by the way, I wasn't signed in.

GREAT comic and I did note the color change on the thumbnail.

Yah, it does just say "Bar & Grill." When I first started the comic I wrote some itty bitty inscriptions on a wall in Latin, then realised that didn't actually make sense since the dialogue is in English (with the occasional foray into Etruscan and "Etruscan").

Herculaneum had fewer commercial inscriptions than Pompeii, which was fairly well covered with advertisements and political exhortations, but there are some lovely ones in Herculaneum, too. I used one of my favourites here:

The finished work advertised the owner's status (probably) and the prices of different types of booze (definitely).

Cutest icon EVAR! And thanks for the reminder to look at the alt tags - I tend to forget.
