OOOOOOH! I *see* it now - he's on his side, with the pillow up around his neck/nape...
Before I was seeing it as his shoulder on the bottom was the pillow! I kept thinking "boy his neck is all scrunched up all wierd...What is Klio up to there?"
if you don't mind a suggestion, I'd say add some lite texture to the pillow, perhaps some lite crosshatching? Stipling?
{feels silly not being able to "see" it the first time}
I'd better get another comic done today, though (along with everything else I need to do). I'm not sure this is the strip I want to be on the front page if anyone I schmooze at ComicCon tomorrow stops by :)
Oh, and, just for the pubic record, NY ComicCon's customer service is friendly but completely incompetent, messed up their handling of my attempt to get a weekend pass so that I can't meet up with some nice folks who will be there Saturday and Sunday, and the NYCC staff's attitude about their own error is "We're big, we don't have to do anything about our mistakes, run along now." Remember the days when customer service meant the customer would be taken care of, or at least mollified...? I think I remember them, vaguely....
Oh no.... I think this is a GREAT panel to have up when you smooze. Sex sells baby!
Sorry about the nasty-bad customer service. That does suck big bite weenies. Especially when they would make more money for you being there? Makes little sense to me. But then, I'm not "so big I don't need your money."
Over the course of a couple of weeks they put me off and put me off and said someone would get back to me and said no one who could help was there so I should phone later and said no one who could help was there so I should phone later and asked is [company] really a professional organisation and said you should wait until you're onsite at the registration booth to work this out and said you need to prove [company] is real and said no one was there who could help anyway and then said, "it's too late to do anything about it now, we're sold out."
Not a single one of the customer service reps I spoke with (and there were many) would 1) let me communicate with a manager or supervisor, or 2) take responsibility for their error with a "we can't help you, but we apologise" type response. It's like everyone these days is trained to a "nothing is my fault" approach to the world, and a "if it's easier not to help you, I won't help you" attitude to their work.
Mucha is my hero! Mucha, Leonardo, Maxfield Parrish, Hal Foster, Wendy Pini, Donna Barr... But Mucha. I always liked him, then I had a chance to see some original printings of his posters, and the subtlety of the colours knocked my bobby-socks off. Much as seeing original Maxfield Parrish paintings knocked my argyles off. I should probably stay away from art, as it leaves my toes cold and exposed.
