tiny queenIf you can't see any images, you can also view the comic here... or here... but not here (mirror, mirror...). The server where 10kd lives is apparently overloading. Maybe I'm getting tens of thousands of readers! Whoo! Probably not.

Not happy with the art, but it's time to get the story moving again...

Eh

New installment

Well, I can't see anything wrong with it. Maybe its not quite as crisp as some of your more recent work, but go back and look at some of the early SPQR episodes. You know you've improved when your less than acceptable work now is markedly better than your best work before. You're doing just fine... but one can't expect every single panel to be a Michaelangelo...otherwise you would be stuck up there on a scaffold, painting bishops in Hell. Here's pigment in your eye!
Following your sterling example, I'll get back to my own bug-killin'. DRW.

I rather enjoy lying on scaffolding getting paint in my eyes. Walls are my favourite things to paint, but only if I get to draw hellish landscapes on them. Or naked people (http://10kd.outsidefood.com/images/risley_parrish.png). Or naked people sitting on rocks that look like other naked people (http://10kd.outsidefood.com/images/risley_lisa.png). Well, those are not my best works, and one of them is a reworking of someone else's work. But boy do I love painting walls. Anyone have any spare walls?

Hmm, my walls are pretty much covered with book cases or pictures, but I have some doors available. Next dime you're down this way, you could paint my library door. It's not doing much for the decor... just a cheap door with a couple of prints stuck to it. Yeah, that would work... maybe something with crocodiles. DRW.

Yay, crocodiles! And flowers. Vitalis insisted on flowers with her crocodiles. Maybe a crocodile dancing with a flower in its teeth.

Er, maybe not.

We have plenty of big white walls that sorely need painting. Are you serious? We know another muralist who likes to do peaceful tranquil landscapes, so maybe we can organize it so we have heaven to retreat to when hell is getting to us.

(and hey, I never realized that about the rock before...)

Awfully serious. I do have a tendency to prefer Art Nouveau and Roman frescoes, though...

Oooh! Maybe your muralist friend and I could work in the same room at the same time--it could be just like when Michelangelo was painting one wall, and Leonardo was across the room painting another, and they got all over each other's nerves! Yeah!

Hey, I've got a garage that could use a mural.

But then, I live in Maryland and we've only met in passing. Oh well.

Heh, we're in Maryland too so she could just come and stay for a few weeks . . .what county are you?

Of course Roman frescoes or art nouveau fit our decor perfectly. We might also consider a few panels of Felix and Mus. Might be amusing to shake up the Stepford Wives with some naked Romans.

I do love Art Nouveau and false mosaics and swirly flowers. Original ideas or duplicating, say, Mucha (my hero). And I think Felix and Mus deserve to be life-size somewhere! I also like shaking up Stepford-ville. It would all be quite tasteful, of course. No Ack.

Why, MD is just around the corner. It's a big corner, but it's just around it.

I should look into really doing this sort of thing. For people who won't mind my peculiar repertoire. I've been reading up on the durability and washability of the Roman technique... I should create a portfolio of sketches... hmm.... ::thinkthinkthink::

I am now thinking of our house as a bunch of oddly shaped blank canvasses. Some interesting spots: two walls along stairs (Ak-style), a couple of vaulted ceilings with associated spandrels (well not really, but that makes them sound fancy), a 15-foot long wall just inside our front entrance that remains blank because I always wanted to put a mosaic or mural there, and two different banks of sliding closet doors, each with four doors side by side. As soon as I find the darn cable I'll upload some photos to get you thinking.

Vaulted ceilings? Awesome.

So... we could do a mural that looks like a mosaic...

That's what S wants, I thought it might be too time-consuming (though perhaps not compared to actually manufacturing tile)

Maybe something simple like this (http://static.flickr.com/53/135519888_7c04639852.jpg) or this (http://static.flickr.com/101/265666032_ff37eece50.jpg) or this (http://static.flickr.com/120/298197510_08c007711f.jpg) or this nice kitty (http://static.flickr.com/46/175561695_02b8189b9a.jpg)? Oh, the possibilities... :)

You know what I love the most about Felix's character design? He has hair on his arms. I realize this is a very odd comment, and probably ill timed with randomness, but there it is. I just love the fact that he has masculine arm hair.

It's my new favourite comment :D (I go through favourite comments kinda quickly, but you get to wear the ceremonial golden myrtle crown of commenty goodness for a few weeks.)

Another comic artist, nothing to see here, posed for the arms and legs and hairline when I was in "oops, I forgot which side Felix's part is on, maybe it can be on both, or neither" stage. Oh, wait, maybe I shouldn't mention any names. Ahem. Nothing to see here.

Mus is starting to look "older." But that's a good thing, not a bad thing. Perhaps it's his new responsibilities to the family? Mm?

I like him draining his cup and then tapping it. It adds depth to the scenes.

I also like Felix saying "you can't take your sister to a bar, you idiot." Well, he doesn't SAY that but that's what he meant, and it's excellent how you provide enough to the the drawing and the details for us to pick up on those things.

"I'll find your shoes.." heh. He's still taking care of him. It's very cute.

I'm wondering if he's drunk or just dead tired. Maybe both.

Getting drunk always makes me dead tired.

But, yeah, I'm going to say probably both, for Mus :P

Mus is starting to look "older."

Maybe Felix can take him down to the sports fields and get Mus buffed up and muscly and manly-mature. The better to attract bakery biscuits.
