Excellent performances by Will Smith and son in a relentlessly depressing movie about a man who pursues wealth at the expense of his small child. Audiences are to feel uplifted by the bonding he does with his boy as he drags him unnecessarily through the depths.

I saw this at a midnight show. I might get 2007 off to a start by writing up a full review on Outside Food. But I warn you, it will be scathing.

::falls over laughing::

Where reviewers are hailing Will Smith's character as the hero in a great, Horatio Alger-type story, you seem ready to call CPS on him. I can't wait to see this review. (I've missed them!)

Yeah, I just got off the phone with our Klio and she basically said the man put his child through hell to pursue his own agenda. Doesn't really sound much like a movie I would enjoy.

Since this is based on true story I would have to agree with calling CPS. There are times where you don't do what you want in order to are for your family.

Hee.

OOHH... Child Protective Services. I was thinking it was, like, "calling foul," but a hip acronym.

But isn't it a part of the American Dream to put everyone else through hell in order to pursue our own agendas? I suppose what Will Smith did was only natural for any American.

And all this without having seen the film...

And "happyness" = money. Other people? Pfft. You can buy new people. As long as you make a million bucks, anything is worth it in the end, right? Right?

*pats your hand reassuringly* Of course it is dear. Now go back to sleep.

Probably not so good to watch "Night at the Museum" and "Happyness" back to back with bumbling, jobless main characters...?

Glad you made your "scribble scribble" icon - cool beans
