Itty-bitty depressed mood

I guess I'm just a little tired and depressed today. Don't read this. )

Itty-bitty sketchbook: What I've been up to instead of drawing

I would make a lousy drug addict

I've had to give myself three injections a night the past couple of weeks, and tonight an intramuscular (read: "gigantic hairy needle") injection. I am positive I did it wrong and my leg will fall off.

I'm still a little out of sorts but plan to catch up on drawing and replies (and all my freelance work) tomorrow. Feel free to send chocolate, unmarked bills, and well-trained servant minions in encouragement.

Itty Bitty Sketchbook Girly Bits

Cool as an orangeAnother trip to the doctor this week. This comic not for the easily squeamish. By this I mean you, guys.

Actually, nothing particularly squeamishy happens, but I know sometimes lads like to avert their eyes. )

Daily Angst: itty-bitty job search

I had this crazy fantasy they would hire both of us. But I should have known it was wonky karma from the start.
Blame Global Warming
Another friend/business contact mentioned the possibility, sometime in the future, of maybe perhaps it-just-might-happen having an editorial position for me that would be quite thoroughly spectacular; so I know I should cool my heels, work on my freelance projects, enjoying getting to read and report on manuscripts and potential import titles and proofread galleys and copyedit hapless authors and all that other good stuff that means I don't have to do drudgework HTML and spreadsheets unless I want to; and take this time to tend to things in Austin; and have patience. But it would have been nice to get a little validation after applying to so many jobs and not getting called for interviews. Maybe they sense from a distance that I don't have a good suit.

Global Warming

fweepMy drawing schedule always gets knocked out of whack by conventions or other weekend activities, and my brain always seems to require far too long to recover. I did do a little bit of irate sketching about the checkout-desk chick at the Marriott while sitting on the floor of a hotel meeting room, though. So the first penguin says... )

Because I'm going to be legless on rum for the next two days

Another random sketch. No biggie. Just some pencil squiggles. From that goat incident what got edited out but will be returned to later perhaps in the printed version. Romani ite domum )

See--itty bittyToday's entry in the Felix saga delayed because of pre-trip anxiety. I am swiftly running out of hours to get it done before midnight (arr, matey, at midnight it becomes PIRATE DAY, and all bets are off, yo ho). I thought perhaps I could distract you with a page from the itty bitty sketchbook showing the planning stages of some past comics.

It was either this or a bunny. )

June 29, 1999--er, 2006

It's hungry. VERY hungry. This is my comic for the latest issue of BOLDFACE, an e-newsletter for people early in their children's book publishing careers. (Brought to you in large-file-size-o-vision, because I'm too tired to fuss with creating a nice-looking PNG. Maybe later.) This one may be a bit esoteric if you aren't familiar with kid's books. Or The Blob. Text by the miraculous Colleen.

itty bitty thoughts

Did you ever have one of those diaries when you were a kid where eventually all the entries were, "nothing much to say today?"
just some random musings until the next SPQR fights its way out of my 3H pencil

Spoiler: Pencils and Quickly Rendered inking, indeed

Move along, nothing to see here, except some drawings and stuffWoe, the poor artiste! My hands are still a bit unsteady (I keep flubbing my lines, yar de har har har), but if anyone would like a spoiler preview of the partially inked (and in some spots only partially drawn) pencils of chapter 2 part XVII, here it is after the cut.

The file size is a little large, to show the pencilling for your viewing pleasure )

You can sort of see from the scan that I use that hugely expensive version of comic-book illustration board with the blue ruler and margin lines already marked on it, because 1) the ruler is already marked on it, and 2) you can erase and erase and erase and erase and the paper still holds up and handles inking well. But I don't stay within the designated "live" area of the sheet, so the strip doesn't conform to yer standard comic-book dimensions. Because I am a wild thing!

When I print chapter 2 and reprint chapter 1, I think I'll make the book square :)
