This installment tests a font called Marydale. But I think I will go back and handletter it.

Ugh.

I don't like the font or the speech bubbles.

I totally love your hand lettering as well, but I can see where it's pretty time consuming. Are you using layers for them? I wonder if you could draw up a "standard" set of word balloons and then drop them in.

This reminds me of a moment I had in a class called 19th-Century Novels in college. We were discussing one of Dickens' books, which features an older woman who insists on passing as younger than she is. (I forget the novel, which shows what an impression it made on me.) Anyway, my professor addressed the class: "Here you have a woman who wears false teeth, heavy face powder, wigs, etc., etc. . . . what's the best way for her to look younger?"

I answered immediately, "Dim light."

Calatoria actually could use dim light. I'm thinking starlight.

Hmm. I like Amy's idea for the balloons. I understand how the lettering eats up time and effort--but this font just doesn't look that good. :(

I love how Calatoria Themis can go from being all mean and full of wounded vanity in the first two panels to sitting up straighter and being all attention when there's a chance to make money.

And Helvius is a canny soul who knows how to approach her. I wonder if the mom thing was a ploy to give her a chance to feel better by saying something vicious before he asked the question?

I guess I just like it because it "Klio" looks very cool in it.

True, I choose to use the computer for my 24 hour comic, and used spellcheck constantly.
