spqrblues: Ave Sweetums Rose (Default)
Found at [livejournal.com profile] seian while sitting around waiting for time to pass and reading everybody's old lj entries.

"Grab the nearest book. Open the book to page 123. Find the fifth sentence. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you."

The nearest book (a photo guide to Pompeii) doesn't have 123 pages :-( The next nearest book says:

The crow dipped its head and peered at him out of one eye, fluffed up its mane and twisted its head and peered at him out of the other eye.

I suppose I should technically have gone for the next next nearest book, a real book instead of a manuscript in a binder: an Advanced Reading Copy of The Printer's Devil by Paul Bajoria. I found it rather dull and never reached page 123 and this line:

Capitals weren't so bad—but with the lowercase letters, because you had to remember that they were back to front, it was often hard to get "d" and "b" and "p" and "q" in the right boxes if you weren't concentrating.

Hmph! Amateur!

P.S. - Miserable rainy day, power lines down all along the road chewing up the asphalt, and I'm waiting for someone to get home so I can bring her a giant bag of food, and I am spending way more time than is healthy alone with my own brain. Too glum to draw at the moment.
