Some people will say it's the subconscious at work, but that's where the characters live and I'm sure it's them telling me the plot. I didn't even like the house Vitalis moves into--I liked the view from the street, actually :P Then as I studied the house a bit more, I saw that it was a very peculiar house with oddly shaped rooms; and archaeologists are uncertain as to its intended use--a school? a meeting place for the priests of Augustus? Then I looked at the houseplans even more and noticed the bricked-over door into Stephanus' house, and the bricked-over access to the house to the north with a tavern, and Vitalis tapped me on the shoulder and said "Finally you get why I bought it. It's not just the convenience to the Forum and the good views of Vesuvius!"
Now, if she can get her hands on Stephanus' money and properties, she can sell off that apartment building on the other side of town and buy up the rest of the city block and paint her name all over the walls. Oh, and Justa's name, too.
