I doodled bears while waiting for a meeting Wednesday, and touched up Felix's uniform. Probably would want the mail-shirt to be longer, but I'd prefer to start over rather than keep tinkering with this one.

Thursday is a big meeting day for NY Comic Con, plus I have a stack of other work to do, so I probably won't finish a comic.

Aw, Mus, I miss him. I keep meaning to check in on him.

The Felix is based on a Saga cover. Not quite finished. I'll fuss with it a little more.

I absolutely love 1950s/early-1960s sword-&-sandals movies. I was surprised yesterday to discover one I hadn't seen before, called 79 AD: The Destruction of Herculaneum.

At the comic shop last Friday, since I ended up turning a Felix sketch into Wonder Woman... twice... I let him have a try at being Superman.

I wasn't satisfied with how the colours turned out, so I played with it in Photoshop.

In high school, I used to enjoy doing stippling effects by hand. Nowadays, I am not so patient.

ElfQuest fan art for our holt from mumblety* years ago. Below the cut.

It didn't strike me until after I'd inked it that, even though this is supposed to be a smaller, part-dog wolf, he probably should have been a little larger relative to our elf friends riding him. No wonder he looks so grumpy!

I've been thinking about this long, circular journey to relearning to draw. I pulled out some of my very old sketchbooks, and I have to conclude: I was a pretty lousy cartoonist in college. I wasn't so bad at portraits or painting, but things got very weird when I used just pen and ink to do comic book-style art (unless it was ElfQuest or A Distant Soil fan art...).

I'm debating whether it would be entertaining to scan and post some of ye olde pieces :)
