I love her mix of realism and simplicity too. Klio picks out just the right details from the real world to make any given panel or picture instantly recognizable -- yet not cluttered. She drew a one-panel comic a few months ago of my "perfect day" in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina (I live in south Louisiana), and the details she included from my apartment were astonishing. Yes, she has stayed here several times, but -- who knew she was memorizing the shape of the arms of my couch?
I suppose that eye for detail is one of the things that separates a truly talented artist from -- well, people like me who can't draw anything but highly stylized cats, birds and stick figures. :-D
