SPQR Blues: 24-Hour Comics Day 2008 - preview of hours 9 & 10

Pencil preview of installment #5. Not for the kiddies. Not terrifyingly adult, either, but, well, I did tell someone back several hours ago that I'd provide at least one risque panel. Maybe there will be more if I get really punchy. It'll all look better when it's inked, yadda yadda blah blah blah.

Er, yeah, I've been looking at Roman furniture from the Vesuvius excavations lately, so that I can do a little more set decorating. I want our characters to have lots of comfy chairs, pillows, footstools, fluffy duvets... uhm... before the whole volcano thingy.

Mus needs to be much nicer to his Menander, yup.

Much nicer. ::snuggles Menander::

I've been reading an article that came out about Caligula's palace. Apparently, Suetonius wasn't lying when he wrote that Caligula (why do I keep typing California?) incorporated the temple of Castor & Pollux into the building as its vestibule. :) Nice to know.

And the sets do look more comfortable. You're piquing my imagination yet again, you know.

Bah, Menander clearly needs to be put in his place! Possibly with the aid of that bedstead.

Hmm . . . are we talking ropes, silk restraints, or shackles? And we make sure the Romans have chocolate first?

Given Mus's youth and inexperience, I suspect someone's belt would be hastily brought into play with a sloppy knot that comes loose at an inopportune time.

Goodness me, a few completely innocent panels and look what erupts. I cannot imagine what could possibly have given you such ideas.

Plus, Menander is a trained professional. He can instruct.
