The doctor says I can use the pen-type thing for the injections. Which I guess is good (??). And we'll try this for a couple of months and this will make me completely balanced. ha ha ha. Oh, uhm, they mean physically, not mentally.
I have to do an injection every day. And I use one of the "penthingies."
Really, it's not a big deal. The med I have to take actually hurts a little, sort of like getting a bee-sting. It's not the shot that hurts, but after.
But doing the injection is REALLY pretty simple. You just have to get over the "oh my god i can't believe i'm actually doing this to myself please kill me NOW!" sort of reaction. And you do.
You can do this. If you need help being brave I'm always there for ya!
I guess I'm pretty brave as long as someone explains why this creepy thing I have to do will be good for me. I saw my regular (non-specialist) doctor yesterday for something unrelated, and even before I told him what specialist-doctor had recommended, he suggested that might be the course of action (so we're paying the specialist bacause... the insurance company wants it...). Ah well. I must prepare for bruising of my delicate perfect skin (ha).
I hope the shots are easy to give, and that they make you feel better.
My weekly shot is easy to give, and it makes me feel better. It's worth it! My tip for you is this. If the shotstuff is kept in the fridge, let it warm up a bit (room temp, I mean - just leave it out for about an hour or so) before you give the shot. If the shotstuff is likely to sting, it tends to sting more when cold.

"Righty-o" is totally what I'm going to say if some doctor ever says that to me. :p

Anyway, I hope it helps and it's not too much of a pain in the neck (thigh, whatever).

Thank you for not being squeamish. I tried to show some restraint and not be all TMI :)

Now I just have to convince myself I believe it's for my own good.

Did I tell you that I thought I had caught Mono that way? From splitting a beer with my friend Jill?
If I did, you already know the end of the story. If you don't, you'll just have to ask.
But I didn't have Mono.

No?

This specialist doctor I've had to see is nice enough. But his enthusiasm scares me a little. My sense of humour scares him, so I guess we're even.

Yeah... it was Alex.
But it wasn't Jill that got me pregnant. Too bad that...
heh.

Regular shots may not be too bad -- I echo what Kyleen66 says up there. I'll be thinking of you.
