SPQR Blues part XXXX

I might stick with a three-day-a-week plan from here on, with the occasional extra. This current week, I have a big medical procedure (anaesthesia and all), so I'll make sure there are at least three insallments, starting with this one. (The big medical thing is nothing too worrisome, except for the GINORMOUS BILL. ahem pardon me mumble mutter.) But enough of that. What's up on Main Street, Herculaneum, Rome?
