So unfair!

Uhm... that penultimate speech bubble isn't meant to be coming out from under her shirt.

i moved home with my parents for a couple of months when i graduated from college and my lease was up two months before i was moving for grad school. i thought it would be a nice way to save some money and sort of bond with my parents before moving more than a thousand miles away. i'd been out of the house for five years, but within a week of moving in, we immediately reverted to the flawed relationship we had when i was seventeen. i think parental over-involvement is a function of proximity as much as anything else.

I've always said my relationship with my mother was at its best when I was living an ocean away on another continent. I looked forward to our weekly phone calls and never once felt like bashing the receiver against my forehead.

I once sent my mother into paroxysms of giggles by explaining that, "But Mo-om, I'm thirty-EIGHT!" sounds *exactly* like "But Mo-om, I'm fourTEEN!" [both said in the same whiny singsong, you understand]

I'm 44 now and nothing has changed. :-)

P.S. Thank you for using penultimate. And correctly, as I knew you would.
